Festive event, presidents, committees, international events, politics at the Ring

Vienna (PK) On the occasion of the recognition of the Roma as an autochthonous ethnic group in Austria 30 years ago, a celebration will take place in Parliament. The Audit Committee uses audit reports to scrutinize, among other things, the general secretariats in the federal ministries. The new issue of Politik am Ring deals with the pension system. National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka is traveling to the Republic of Moldova for an official visit. Some Bilateral Parliamentary Groups are deepening their parliamentary relations with their partner countries.

The Bilateral Parliamentary Group Austria-South America travels to Brazil and Uruguay until May 23rd. The Bilateral Parliamentary Group Austria-UK Great Britain, Northern Ireland visits the partner countries until May 18th. The Bilateral Parliamentary Group Austria-Switzerland is in Bern until May 16th.

The COSAC conference of the European committees is taking place in Stockholm until May 16th as part of the Swedish EU Council Presidency. On the part of Austria, the MPs Nikolaus Berlakovich (ÖVP), Eva Maria Holzleitner (SPÖ), Hannes Amesbauer (FPÖ), Maria Huber (Greens), Helmut Brandstätter (NEOS) and the chairman of the EU Committee of the Federal Council Christian Buchmann (ÖVP) will take part . The focus is on 30 years of the internal market, the green transition, Ukraine and the Swedish Council Presidency itself.

9 p.m.: In the new issue of Politik am Ring, Christoph Zarits (ÖVP), Josef Muchitsch (SPÖ), Rosa Ecker (FPÖ), Bedrana Ribo (Greens) and Yannick Shetty (NEOS) discuss with the experts Dinah Djalinous-Glatz (Austrian Federation of Trade Unions). ) and Winfried Pinggera (Pensionsversicherungsanstalt) on the topic “How fit for the future is our pension system?”.

President of the National Council Wolfgang Sobotka is traveling to the Republic of Moldova for an official visit, where he will meet his counterpart Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean for talks.

A delegation of deputies from the National Defense Committee is staying in Budapest until May 17.

10.00 a.m.: The Audit Committee deals with audit reports on the general secretariats in the federal ministries, on telework in selected federal ministries, on FACULTAS DOM Buchhandels GmbH and on investments by the states of Upper Austria and Styria. 5 p.m.: Every year on April 8, International Roma Day is a global day of action to draw attention to the concerns of the Roma. This year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the recognition of the Roma as an autochthonous ethnic group in Austria. Against this background, Parliament invites you to a celebratory event at which successes, experiences and challenges are to be discussed in order to achieve new opportunities, opportunities and developments in the sense of a future-oriented ethnic group policy for Roma and Sinti.

After opening words by Federal Council President Günter Kovacs and a message by Integration Minister Susanne Raab, the Chairman of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma Romani Rose will give a keynote speech. The Ambassador of the Slovak Republic Peter Misik, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic Jiří Šitler, the Ambassador of Hungary Andor Nagy and the Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Ethnic Groups of the Roma Emmerich Gärtner-Horvath. The political scientist Mirjam Karoly leads the discussion. Closing words come from National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka.
