Party funding will increase to 37.2 million euros in 2024

The amount is adjusted annually for inflation. This was 7.8 percent in 2023, as Statistics Austria announced on Wednesday. Including club and academy funding, 77.9 million euros will flow to the five parliamentary parties this year.

The ÖVP, which received the most votes in the last National Council election, will receive a total of 26.4 million euros in federal funding in 2024. The SPÖ accounts for 17 million euros and the FPÖ 13.6 million euros. The Greens will receive 12.3 million euros from the pots, the NEOS, the smallest parliamentary party, will receive 8.6 million euros.

More money for party academies

Club funding in parliament, which is linked to the development of civil servant salaries, increases by 9.15 percent to 28.6 million euros. Funding for party academies will also be increased for the first time since 2014, by 14 percent: 12 million euros will be allocated to the ÖVP Political Academy, the SPÖ Karl Renner Institute, the Freedom Educational Institute in 2024 (2023: 10.5 million), distributed by the Green Academy FREDA and the NEOS Lab.

In addition, the parties will receive around 16 million euros in special funding for the EU elections this year. The distribution between the parties depends on the election results. This amount is therefore not yet included in the parties’ funding amounts.
