Patio in Amsterdam West is such a friendly, nice place with delicious food, you just have to go there! And we promise you: there will certainly be many visits afterwards. It really is one of those places where you want them to become super popular, but you secretly want to keep it to yourself. Open for lunch and early dinner, and that’s really a party.

Patio in Amsterdam West: special dishes with Spanish and Latin American influences with a view over the Rembrandt Park
Looking for a place for a delicious brunch, lunch or early dinner – they are open until 9:00 PM – in Amsterdam West? And haven’t you been to Patio yet? Then you’re in for a treat! At this nice place at the Rembrandt Park they make something special from every dish. But let’s start with the atmosphere of this restaurant with Spanish and Latin American influences. Immediately when we enter it feels like we are visiting a hospitable good friend. We are warmly welcomed and we choose a table in the cozy, bright room. Patio opened this summer, and with their large terrace and view of the green Rembrandt Park it is a wonderful place to enjoy the sun. Even now in the winter sun at the weekend it is a nice place for a sunny lunch! Inside you can still feel the Spanish atmosphere through the cozy wooden tables and the extremely warm and hospitable staff. And very nice: there is time for a chat and no one is in a hurry, while you never have to wait long for your food. A golden combination!

Tuna tartare and pakora with almond salsa
We start with a glass of wine: Patio has a fine wine list with Spanish influences and various wines that you can also order by the glass. The menu includes snacks – Pica pica – that are delicious with drinks, and larger dishes that are also perfect for sharing. Everything with Spanish and Latin American influences: Patio’s chef is Colombian and partly grew up in Spain. You can taste this in her dishes, she also experiments with contemporary influences and makes extensive use of locally harvested seasonal vegetables. We start with two real top dishes: the tuna tartare and the pakora. The tuna tartare is served on half a lime with a sweet potato cream. And by squeezing the lime while eating the tartare, lime juice is released: this gives you a perfect combination of that delicious tuna, fresh lime juice and creamy sweet potato. Very tasty! The pakora is also really special: made from pointed cabbage, served with seaweed and a salsa of jalapeños, almonds and capers. A vegan dish with different structures and full of flavour, which we highly recommend.

Slow-cooked Ibéirco cheek or vegan grilled pumpkin
Another delicious vegan dish is the pumpkin with vegan sobrasada, crispy black rice and a pipian – a Mexican sauce. The pumpkin is slowly grilled, making it wonderfully soft and sweet, the sauce makes it a truly heart-warming dish. The tacos with Ibérico are perhaps our favorite – but to be honest it is difficult to choose with so many special and tasty dishes. The Ibérico cheek is slowly cooked and wonderfully tender, the smoked pineapple gives it just that little bit extra, making us dream of a holiday in Mexico again. And if you like duck, be sure to try the canelon with slowly cooked duck, which is served with huancaina sauce – a kind of béchamel sauce with Mexican white cheese – and a salad with grilled little gem and kohlrabi.

Finally, Patio also has very tasty homemade cakes. Delicious as a dessert or just with coffee during a walk through the park! We ate a chocolate cake with different types of chocolate preparations: all chocolate lovers should try this. And we thought the cheesecake was really special: it is made with Spanish goat cheese, which gives it something special.
We had a very delicious meal at Patio Amsterdam! The taste and passion really shine through all the dishes, the dishes are really special and the atmosphere is so nice that you keep coming back. Also a nice place for groups and private lunches / dinners: normally they do not work with reservations, but for groups above 8 people you can contact them via [email protected]. Highly recommended!
