Patras: Marina works until summer – €1.5 million is still needed for complete restoration – 2024-03-22 14:53:03

The confirmation of a recent report by “Peloponnisos” about the start of procurement and placement of the three floating projectors in the municipal marina of Patras came on Tuesday, when the municipal committee approved the offer submitted by a company to undertake the project.

In the municipal marina, a significant part has been damaged by bad weather in recent years. The Municipality of Patreon had launched a new competition weeks ago, after two failed attempts. “P” had revealed at the end of February that an offer had been submitted, with the deputy mayor of Ergon Panagiotis Melto express the optimism that the works will be launched by the summer.

At Tuesday’s meeting, Mr. Melas answered related questions from the opposition, pointing out that only one offer was submitted with a discount rate of 0.5%. While for the overall project he said:

“We start the work with 780,000 euros. Obviously, this money is not enough for the whole marina, but for the three platforms. We are trying to find the money for the rest of the work required, with the amount needed in total amounting to 2-2.5 million euros. Once we find this money we will be able to do the work to have a decent marina. We had conducted another tender process but there was no participation. I appreciate that the specialized companies consider this to be a small job and despite the effort we had made, there was no interest. Now we proceed normally.”

The initial amount available from the emergency government grant was €700,000 and then another €80,000 was added to the budget to make the tendering process more attractive to specialist marina construction companies.

The three “sticks” that tie the boats in the marina of Patras have been damaged by the bad weather of November 2021. Since then, the mooring infrastructure of the area remains in a “black mess” despite the timely actions of the Municipality for emergency funding. The work envisaged in the study refers only to the three docks which have been rendered unsuitable for more than two years and where 8 to 12 meter boats are moored.
