An unrepeatable fantastic carnival night will be canceled this Friday, March 15, with the maiden appearance of the Municipality’s floats in the main streets of Patras. Carnival lights and a festive atmosphere took over the night and a crowd of people – natives and visitors – have flooded the center of the city heralding the climax of the last three days of the 2024 Patrinos Carnival.
The illuminated floats combined with the city’s carnival decorations and lighting gave an impressive image to the city center and to George I Square where they remained for some time. There, excited people – young and old – were curious about them, admired them and took pictures with them. The square was flooded with color and overflowed with authentic carnival mood and euphoria.
It all started with the start of the chariots at the junction of Gounari and Corinthou streets, which followed Corinthou street and around the perimeter of Georgiou I square, again departing from Corinthou.
At the top of the parade the President of KEDIP-Patra Carnival Hera Kouri, the Queen of the Patronus Carnival 2024 Georgia Sakka, members of the Board of Directors. of KEDIP and the Advisory Committee. The disguised members of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Polyphonic Club under the direction of chief musician Giorgos Bourdopoulos set the carnival tone by playing carnival rhythms.
The floats that paraded were the “Propompos” (an artistic float in a two-headed carnival form with a uniform clown hat flanked by dancers), the impressive Carnival King, the “Carnival of Globalization” playing a game of chess with the countries of the world , the Queen’s float with a marine theme (Mermaid crawling on a horsefish and a shell), the ‘Smile’ float inspired by the old silent cinema with carnival heroes Charlot and the Coarse-wood, the ‘Circus Dancers’ (artistic float with jugglers and dancers) and John Lennon with children of flowers and peace adapted to the topicality of the war in Palestine. With them are the two new floats of this year’s Carnival of Children: “Journey with the imagination” and “Carnival Baby”.
It was the ideal entry into the carnival three days of peak fun and joy, a foretaste of what is to come.
The fun will remain undiminished with the big open concert of the famous Shantel “The Disco Partizani Years!” at 21.30 at Georgiou A’ square. He is joined by Bucovina Club Soundsystem, Koza Mostra and DJ Spery who will offer the world a unique Dionysian party with Balkan music.
