Coordinating MINISTER for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto said that child pornography victims came from several levels of education, from PAUD to SMA. It even happens in Islamic boarding schools.
“Our students at Islamic boarding schools often become victims. And the perpetrators are known and close people,” said Hadi in a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Jakarta, Thursday, April 18 2024.
Hadi said the majority of victims were 12-14 years old. This is a serious concern for the government.
Apart from that, he revealed that 5,566,015 pieces of child pornographic content were found in Indonesia over four years. This data was revealed by
National Center for Missing Exploited Childern (NCMEC).
With these conditions, Indonesia is ranked fourth in the number of child pornography cases internationally. And ranked second in the ASEAN region.
Therefore, Hadi emphasized that this problem cannot be resolved alone. He asked the relevant ministries and institutions to jointly handle child pornography cases.
“We have to synergize collaboration across ministries. Because each ministry already has very strong regulations. We just have to implement them,” he concluded. (Z-8)
