Paul Pelseneer, this discreet little Belgian who made Belgium shine in the world

Jean Paul Louis Pelseneer was a Belgian malacologist, morphologist, ethologist and phylogenist. In short: a scholar, of the caliber of the ineffable Professor Tryphon Tournesol in Tintin. He was born on January 26, 1863 – almost 160 years ago – in the heart of Brussels, Place du Grand Sablon, into a family of erudite industrialists who were very connected with Mother Nature. He was, incidentally, also my great-great-grandfather….
