Person presumed dead after fire in Lillehammer

– One person is confirmed to have been in the home when the fire started, and has not been accounted for. Extinguishing is still ongoing at the scene, and the police, together with the fire service, will enter the home as soon as possible. A search will then be made for the presumed death in the home, Innlandet police district writes in a press release.

It was at 2.30am on Saturday that the police received a report about the fire in a home on Vingnes in Lillehammer. Four people in a family of five were in the home when the fire started. Three people escaped and were sent to the emergency room.

Police prosecutor Hildegunn Tronsli tells NTB that the people who were sent to the emergency room are physically unharmed. These and the last family member who was not present are now being looked after by the municipal crisis team.

– We will probably be able to enter the fire ground very soon. The police’s forensic technicians are ready to go in together with fire crews as soon as possible to search for a presumed dead person, says Tronsli.

She will not say anything about the gender and age of the missing person.

The police cannot yet say anything about the cause of the fire.

It was one of those involved who reported the fire, operations manager Øyvind Bakken told NTB on Saturday morning.

Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen writes that the house is a total loss.
