Two men critically injured after an accident on the E6 in Ås

A third person is also involved in the accident, but should not be seriously injured.

– A car has come at high speed and rammed into a car from behind, says operations manager Atle Vesttorp in the East police district.

The police reported the accident at 12:29. The E6 was closed in the northbound lane, but was reopened an hour after the accident. There were long queues in the direction of Oslo, but the E6 was open and traffic flowed well again at 1.30pm.

Operations manager Terje Marstad says the two men who have been sent to hospital were in the car that drove into a car from behind. The third person was in the car that was hit.

– There are two men who are critically injured. They have been transported to Ullevål hospital, says Marstad to NTB.

The police state that the accident was characterized by the car traveling at high speed. One of the injured men was lying 50 meters from the car wreck after the accident.

– It is too early to say anything about the cause, but drug addiction is suspected. We are conducting investigations into this, says Marstad.

At about the same time, the police reported another accident on the E6 in Follo. At 12.40 the police reported an incident on the E6 in the southbound direction in the Nøstvettunnelen, which is around one mile north of the accident site in Ås.

– At least three cars involved, hit from behind, the police report.

Marstad says that there were no serious injuries in this accident.
