This Saturday the new mixed team athletic walking marathon will be held at the Pan American Games and Kimberly García and César Rodríguez will compete with the Peruvian flag.
This new test was made official by the World Athetic to replace the 35 km walk, in order to ensure that the requirement does not affect the athletes. Therefore, it is a relay event that will also be seen at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“Each team is made up of one male and one female athlete, who will complete the marathon distance (42.195 km) in four stages of approximately the same distance,” explains World Athletic itself on its website.
Well, Deporte Total was able to find out how the Peruvian duo is going to compete this Saturday. From the technical command of Kimberly García and César Rodríguez they explained the following to us.

The distance that each one will complete in the 42,195km marathon depends on the organizing committee and in Santiago it was established that the first marches 11,195 meters (11km and 195 meters), Kimberly 10km, César another 10km and Kimberly finishes with 11km. This is how the test will be given for Peruvians.
As it is a new test, the Peruvian Athletics Federation confirms that by having a man and a woman classified for Paris 2024 in the 20km march (Kimberly, Evelyn Inga and Mary Luz Andía in women and César Rodríguez in men – it is expected by Luis Henry Campos by ranking), the relay team can now be formed to compete in the Olympic Games.
