Petite-Côte: SEN’EAU promises water availability in hotel facilities

Mbour, Feb 16 (APS) – La Sénégalaise des eaux (SEN’EAU), through its territorial management of Petite-Côte, promised on Wednesday to support the development of the tourism sector, in particular its revival currently initiated by the President of the Republic, Macky Sall, by a continuous availability of drinking water in quality and quantity at the level of the hotel receptions.

”To support the development of this sector, it will be a question of ensuring continuous availability in quality and quantity of water at the level of the hotel reception centers at the level of the Petite-Côte, which is, par excellence, the most important tourist area in Senegal”, declared Alpha Sall, the territorial director of SEN’EAU in the Petite-Côte.

Speaking in an interview with APS on Wednesday, he underlined that the drinking water connection and distribution projects on the Petite-Côte are a response to the ambition to maintain and boost tourist activity on this part of the national territory.

”This is the reason why these water transfer projects but also the construction of new boreholes initiated by the National Water Company of Senegal (SONES), will make it possible to ensure good water availability for the various receptives. hoteliers on the Petite-Côte (…)”, he explained. These projects will also ”make it possible to attract more customers who will not suffer from lack of water”.

Alpha Sall wanted to reassure the players in this key sector of the economy that SEN’EAU will fully play its role, ensuring the availability of drinking water in quantity and quality on the sites. tourist.

According to him, the water tower built in the Mbodiène area, south of Mbour, as well as the other boreholes recently drilled by SONES, constitute a structural response to the problem of water supply in this area.

”There is a structuring response with the main pipe that runs along the road to go to Joal-Fadiouth, with the construction of a new pumping station with a capacity of 1,000 m3 per hour but which is expected to evolve up to 1,500 m3 per hour, eventually,” he said.

He underlined that these various works are a response to the policy of development of tourist activity on the new seaside resort of Pointe-Sarène, as well as in Mbodiène with the Akon-city project, the new city that the French rapper American plans to build at a cost of 6 billion dollars.

“It is to anticipate these future demands that the State of Senegal, through SONES, has built these major infrastructures on this part of the national territory”, justified the territorial director of SEN’EAU de la Little Coast.
