The RSO threatens to be abolished by the austerity plans of the ORF. It is an important orchestra within the Austrian cultural scene and an important ambassador and pillar of classical and modern music and composers. It is an integral part of Austria’s symphonic scene and hosts numerous events of all kinds of music styles.
Every country has and needs a radio symphony orchestra – it is part of the public value and also fulfills an important educational task – a cultural nation like Austria in particular can expect the disappearance of the RSO not afford. The petition seeks funding for the continued existence of the RSO.
The RSO must not disappear from Austria’s cultural life and must continue to be funded.
