Peugeot is recalling more than 143,000 cars with braking problems.

143,440 vehicles affected

Peugeot is launching a major recall campaign targeting more than 143,000 of its vehicles, due to a problem linked to braking assistance. Affecting almost its entire range, including the 208, 2008, 308, 3008 and 5008 models, this initiative follows the detection of an issue requiring a software update to improve the diagnosis of the braking system, reports Car Plusthis Thursday, December 14, 2023.

In total, 143,440 cars sold on the French market should return to the workshop.

Many models are affected: the 208, 2008, 308, 3008 and 5008. These are vehicles produced between April 3, 2017 and December 11, 2021.

A software update

The operation will consist of a simple software update. This aims “to improve the diagnosis of the braking assistance system and to avoid any risk of reduction or loss of braking assistance”, according to the brand from Sochaux.

This update will also be an opportunity for technicians to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles in general, with a particular focus on timing belts. On certain models, this part would be “submerged”, which would accelerate its wear and thus damage the braking assistance system.

Repairs are free

As Auto Plus points out, all repairs carried out as part of the recall procedure are covered by the manufacturer, and therefore free of charge for the customer.
