Pharaoh Musa was not an authentic Egyptian

The Egyptian preacher Dr. Osama Al-Azhari sparked widespread controversy with his statements, in which he said that Pharaoh was not an authentic Egyptian, but was a Hyksos, in the context of his talk about the commemoration of Ashura, in which Muslims celebrate the deliverance of the Prophet of God Moses, peace be upon him, from Pharaoh and his army, and the latter drowned in the sea.

Osama al-Azhari, who works as an advisor on religious affairs to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and an assistant professor at Al-Azhar University, said in a radio interview: “Our Master Musa was patient with Pharaoh for 40 years, despite his arrogance and tyranny.”

He added: “There is historical research – and it is more correct – that Pharaoh was not an authentic Egyptian, but was a Hyksos… The Egyptian does not reach this limit of distance from God in any way, and the conclusion is that God on this day set the finish line for Pharaoh.”

Al-Azhari’s statement sparked widespread controversy on social networking sites in Egypt between supporters and opponents, especially that it was issued by a famous religious preacher.

“Sudanese Pharaoh”

These statements come after exciting statements by the former Sudanese Minister of Information, Ahmed Bilal, 5 years ago, in which he said that the Pharaoh mentioned in the Holy Quran was Sudanese.

The Sudanese Minister of Information cited the sincerity of his statements by the story of “the rivers that flow under it”, and that Egypt has only one river, while Sudan is the country of rivers, and that the history of Sudan has been exposed to many falsehoods throughout history.

He said that the Bahrain complex mentioned in the Holy Qur’an is the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, where Musa met the righteous man.
