Last Thursday afternoon, returning from a bike ride in a nature reserve, Philip Saelens suddenly lost control of the handlebars of his bike.
Although he avoided the fall and received very quick medical assistance, the man died at the scene.
Evidence has shown that Philip Saelens was in fact stung in the neck by an insect, possibly a bee, which caused a very violent allergic reaction leading to asphyxiation.
