Philippe Katerine Releases 19th Album Planète Bleue

French artist Philippe Katerine released his nineteenth album, Planète bleue, on October 23, 2026, through Cinq7 and Wagram Music.

The Bottom Line

  • Philippe Katerine released his 19th album, Planète bleue, on October 23, 2026, two years after his previous record Zouzou.
  • The project features production and arrangements by Nikola Fève, known as Nk.F, who has previously worked with PNL, Damso, Orelsan, and Zaho de Sagazan.
  • The artist will perform a symphonic rearrangement of his repertoire alongside the Sinfonietta de Lausanne at the Auditorium Stravinski in Montreux on November 5, 2026.

Urgency and Social Critique on Planète bleue

Philippe Katerine built the album around the pressures of modern life, incorporating themes of war, ecological crisis, and political decisions affecting future generations. Katerine noted that parenting has heightened his awareness of the world’s trajectory, remarking, “Quand vous avez des enfants, vous vous dites qu’on est en train de prendre des décisions pour leur avenir,” and denouncing that “Il y a des gens qui sont en train de pourrir leur avenir.” He stated that he is no longer in the posture of “je vous emmerde,” explaining instead, “Je suis un peu préoccupé.” He considers that those who prioritize profit at all times are major delinquents, and describes Paris as simultaneously magical and horrible, thus fundamentally bipolar.

The release follows his 2024 album Zouzou and spans eleven compositions examining human behavior and social contradictions. The title track associates references to music, sport, art, and family, describing a planet crossed by conflicts as well as creation and personal ties. The tracklist includes “Les enfants sont de droite,” described as a mood song based on observations made while interacting with very young people, observing reflexes of possession and egoism from childhood. Another track, “Doudounes,” uses a padded jacket as a metaphor for fear and the need for protection, with Katerine noting that “Je me sentais très rassuré dans une doudoune et le monde pouvait s’écrouler,” while acknowledging that the garment is also relatively ugly. The album also features “Je te donnerais,” which explores sacrifice, and “Encore je,” which mentions his father, to whom he said “je t’aime” for the first time on his deathbed. Additional titles on the record include “Ils nous sucent” and “Mode avion,” addressing collective behaviors and the need to take distance from daily agitation.

Since 2005’s Robots après tout, Philippe Katerine has regularly shaken up his musical habits by changing collaborators and recording methods.

Collaboration with Producer Nk.F

The sonic identity of Planète bleue marks a distinct evolution through a close partnership with French hip-hop producer and sound engineer Nikola Fève, known as Nk.F. Having previously collaborated on mixing Zouzou, Nk.F took a direct hand in the composition and arrangements for the new project, bringing electronic textures and urban pop codes to Katerine’s distinct vocal delivery. Portions of the production took place in Montreal, where Fève is based, with official credits confirming his recurring presence on synthesizers and production across all eleven tracks.

The tracklist weaves personal observations with broader societal critiques. Another track, “Le banc,” draws its inspiration from the municipal removal of a bench located in front of number 8, rue de Ménilmontant in Paris, where Katerine frequently watched passersby.

Symphonic Concert in Montreux

Following the album’s release, Katerine is scheduled to transition his work to the live stage for a unique orchestral performance. On November 5, 2026, he will present the concert Aux anges – Philippe Katerine Symphonique at the Auditorium Stravinski in Montreux. Accompanied by the Sinfonietta de Lausanne, the performance will revisit selections from his extensive musical repertoire in a symphonic format.

The artist views humor and the absurd as more effective tools against power than direct confrontation, maintaining a perspective that balances political critique with personal introspection as he prepares for the Swiss stage.
