The future member of the SNB bank council will join the Group Supervisory Body and the Board of Directors of Banque Pictet & Cie SA in 2025. Marc Pictet will become senior partner.

The Pictet group announces that its senior partner, Renaud de Planta, will leave the College of Partners on June 30, 2024 and will join the group’s Supervisory Body and the Board of Directors of Banque Pictet & Cie SA on January 1, 2025, under subject to approval by regulatory authorities. These changes come following his recent appointment to the Banking Council of the Swiss National Bank. Marc Pictet will succeed Renaud de Planta as senior partner on July 1, 2024.

Renaud de Planta, who will be 60 this year, joined Pictet in 1998 as a partner and became its senior partner in 2019. During this quarter of a century, he played a major role in the development of a past group from some 1,000 employees, 9 sites and 100 billion francs under management to 5,300 employees, 30 offices and managing assets of more than 630 billion. Renaud de Planta spearheaded the development of Pictet’s asset management business. This area of activity, which became Pictet Asset Management, originally represented less than 20 billion and today manages more than 230 billion, making it the second largest asset manager in Switzerland.

Pictet Asset Management today serves some of the most demanding clients around the world and constitutes one of the main drivers of the group’s development. Among the many achievements to his credit, Renaud de Planta has also successfully managed several crises, including the financial crisis of 2008 and that resulting from the pandemic of 2020.

Marc Pictet joined Pictet in 2001 and has been a partner of the Group since 2011. He currently co-heads Pictet Wealth Management and supervises the Corporate Office. He is also chairman of the supervisory body of Bank Pictet & Cie (Europe) AG. Marc Pictet previously headed Pictet Asset Services and Technology and Operations, among others.

“I am delighted to embark on this new stage of life, which will notably lead me to sit on the Banking Council of the BNS while allowing me to retain responsibilities within Pictet,” comments Renaud de Planta. I also want to devote more time to my philanthropic activities. In the longer term, I am fully confident in the future of the Pictet group. Our group is a benchmark player, stable and solid. He can rely on a rejuvenated college of associates which brings together all the necessary skills to continue to ensure the prosperity of Pictet.

“We are very grateful to Renaud for his invaluable contribution,” notes Marc Pictet. Without him, the Pictet group would not be what it is today. Being able to continue to count on its expertise will therefore be extremely valuable. For my part, I am very honored to take over the management of the Group on the eve of its 219th anniversary, next July. The action of the College of Associates will continue to be inspired by the principles of responsibility, independence and partnership. Finally, our objective will remain, as it has always been, to maintain our entrepreneurial spirit and our long-term approach, doing everything to continue to offer the quality service that has made Pictet’s reputation.
