Pierre Guthrie of AlphaTauri F1 says he expects a surprise like Brawn GP in 2022 when the F1 car will be redesigned.
In 2022, the F1 regulations will change drastically, and the basic design of F1 cars will shift from an aerodynamic-dependent philosophy to a grand effect car. All F1 teams will start from scratch, and the power map may change significantly from last year.
For AlphaTauri and other midfield teams, the best chances of catching a front runner may come, but if things go wrong, they may go behind the grid.
Pierre Guthrie has both possibilities, but believes that no matter how good AlphaTauri creates, he won’t be in front of Red Bull.
