Pierre Guthrie of AlphaTauri F1 “We need to take a step back and see the big picture to move forward”[F1-Gate.com]

Pierre Gasly believes Scuderia AlphaTauri needs to “take a step back” to understand how to move forward in the second half of the 2022 F1 season.

Scuderia AlphaTauri have struggled in the midfield in the first half of the season and are currently eighth in the constructors’ standings with 27 points, just seven points behind ninth-placed Aston Martin.

Pierre Gasly admits Red Bull’s sister team Scuderia AlphaTauri may lack the facilities it owns compared to larger teams, but the team still has enough He feels he has the resources and is confusing him as to why he has lost out to some of his rivals so far in 2022.

“Compared to big teams like Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull, we know what they have built over the last decade,” said Gasly.

“They are more efficient in terms of facilities, people and resources, but at the same time AlphaTauri has very good people and I think they have the right tools to be more competitive.”

That’s why Pierre Gasly thinks we may need to look at the big picture to understand why Scuderia AlphaTauri fell behind in the first half of the season.

“To be honest, I don’t have a complete answer as to why they seem to be struggling more than other teams in midfield, because I don’t think there’s anything missing at the core of the team.” said Pierre Gasly.

“That’s why I think we need to take a step back and look at the whole situation, the big picture, what we’re doing aerodynamically, which direction we’re going, how we decided to use the budget cap.”

“Because we know from the beginning of the season that we’re already pretty much on the limit. Is that the main reason? I’m not entirely sure, but we’re going to keep pushing and have bigger development items over the next few weeks. I hope you can find the

With F1 returning from summer break, there are nine races left in the 2022 season. Pierre Gasly is looking forward to the upcoming Grand Prix and hopes Scuderia AlphaTauri can move forward.

“I really like the second half, with different flyaways and interesting tracks,” explained Gasly.

“I think on our part it’s actually good to have a summer break and it’s good to be able to use this time. First we switch off, but then we really get together and see what’s going on in the package. We’ll figure it all out and I think we’re closer to the top of the midfield this year.”

“We weren’t there, but the performance signs are good, but it looks like the others made a bigger gap and couldn’t keep up.”

“We will work together. I know what we can achieve together with the team. I know we have really good people. It’s important to find a solution to put it in.”
