Last January, the team RPM began a series of commemorations to mark the 25th anniversary of the show. Capsules were thus produced to talk about the evolution of the automotive world, but also the evolution of the show itself, which has survived the ages by constantly renewing itself. As the culmination of this series of recollections, the host Pierre Michaud took advantage of the episode broadcast this Sunday to announce that he would retire from hosting RPM at the end of the current season.

After more than 25 years analyzing the automotive world in depth, it is now time for Mr. Michaud to think about other projects. It will therefore leave room for Luc-Olivier Chamberland et Samuel Lessardwho will thus be the two hosts of the RPM show for the next season which will arrive in the fall.

A little history

Mr. Michaud has more than 30 years in automotive journalism, having started his career on Télé-Mag in the 90s, a regional station then broadcast only in a few regions of Quebec. In 1999, he moved to the national network TQS with the show “Pare-chompers” where he continued to answer telephone calls from the public, while having a greater reach, province-wide. A few years later, he continued his rise by becoming producer of the show, which then changed its name to RPM, the acronym for “Rolez avec Pierre Michaud”.

Throughout these transformations, only one aspect has guided Pierre Michaud, that of advising the public with as much precision and rigor as possible. These are also the values that he transmitted to Luc-Olivier Chamberland and Samuel Lessard, the two co-hosts with whom he will continue to share the screen until June in the show RPM+, but also for the next season which will arrive next September. He will then support his colleagues in answering questions from the public, but also in analyzing the automotive world which is currently undergoing the greatest transformation in its history, with the massive advent of electric vehicles.

To see Pierre Michaud take his last lap on the RPM show, watch the show on Noovo on April 7, starting at 10 a.m.
