Vienna – The Association of Austrian Pig Farmers (VÖS) is not very pleased with the announcement that the transition period for implementing the ban on fully slatted floors in pig farming is set to end in 2030. The Minister responsible for animal welfare and consumer protection, Johannes Rauch (Greens), presented a three-point plan at the weekend. Smoke is endangering domestic meat production, the association responded in a statement on Monday.
