――First of all, please introduce yourself. What is your favorite game?

AirdorfHello, this is Airdorf who makes this work and various pixel horrors. I’ve been developing games since I was 11 years old. The first game I played was The Legend of Zelda: Dreaming Island, and it’s been my favorite game ever since. I also like STALKER, Dark Souls III, and Hunt: Showdown.

――Why did you start developing this game?

AirdorfI’ve always liked horror games, but it wasn’t until around 2011 that I started wanting to make my own.Markipliersince I started seeing them play games like Slenderman. When the Silent Hill teaser, PT, was released, I knew I wanted to make a first-person game with such state-of-the-art graphics. But I’m not a graphics programmer, so I decided to take on the design challenge of making a scary horror game with old style graphics like the Atari 2600, ZX Spectrum and Apple II.

――Please tell us about the features of this work.

AirdorfOther than the traditional graphic style, I put a lot of effort into audio. Especially the character voice overs. I also composed more than 20 songs by myself in 8bit style. I think players will like the sound design of this game as well. Also, for this cutscene, I used a rotoscoping animation style. It can be very scary and disturbing. I don’t think there is any other game like this one.

――What kind of person would you like to play this work?

AirdorfIf you like indie horror, you will enjoy this work. Especially if you’re looking for a classic gaming experience with a twist, you’ll enjoy it even more. I market to YouTubers and Twitch streamers all the time. By getting them to play and react to my game, it will also be a promotion!

――Are there any works that influenced this work?

AirdorfThe movies that influenced this work are “The Exorcist (1 and 3)”, “The Last Exorcism”, “The Light -The Truth of the Exorcist-“, “Paranormal Activity 3”, “Clash!”, “Neon Demon” etc. . In terms of games, it’s “Zero Akai Chou”, “Silent Hill (1-4)”, “Shadow Man”, “PT”, etc.

――Are there plans to support Japanese for this game? Is volunteer translation possible?

AirdorfLocalization is planned but not a high priority at this time. Volunteer translators are welcome as long as they don’t cost money.

――Did the new coronavirus affect development?

AirdorfDuring lockdown, I didn’t go to my office for my day job, so I had more time to focus on this project. It got me a lot of work done. We work remotely with publishers, so the new coronavirus didn’t have a negative impact on development.

――Is it okay to distribute and monetize this work?

AirdorfYes, please distribute this work, upload videos, and monetize it! I may come to the distribution too. (smile)

――Finally, please give a message to Japanese readers.

AirdorfThank you for your interest in this work! It’s been years in the making, and I’m so excited to finally bring it to you. I would be happy if you could play this work, enjoy it, and be scared. And don’t forget. “Gary Ha Anatawo Ishimasu”.

–thank you very much.
