The Flemish Traffic Center (Vlaams Verkeercentrum) expects congested roads towards the coast this weekend in view of the mild weather. Especially since work on the E40 motorway is planned and could cause additional inconvenience. For its part, SNCB has announced that additional trains will run this weekend.
The E40 motorway will be closed to traffic in both directions near Tronchiennes (Ghent, East Flanders) during the night of Saturday September 9 to Sunday September 10 to allow the demolition of a bridge, indicates the Wegen en Verkeer Agency .

Traffic from the Coast towards Brussels will be diverted from Aalter via the N44, the E34/N49 and the R4 to join the E40 after the works, and vice versa in the other direction. From Sunday at 9:30 a.m., the highway will be reopened. However, the speed will remain limited to 70 km/h on the three traffic lanes.
