Plant for the recovery of household waste in the Ropaz region. No damage to nature?

This conclusion of the GBNS will allow “Vides resursu centrs” – an enterprise separated from the well-known household waste service company “Clean R” – to try once again to obtain the consent of the Ropazh region municipality to build a plant, and in the same place where once in the permit for construction has already been abandoned.

Last year, the first attempt to get municipal consent to build the plant failed miserably. Frightened by thousands of applications from residents to the local government and signatures collected on the website of public initiatives “manabalss.lv”, the local government deputies unanimously decided to stop developing a local plan on two land plots with a total area of ​​approximately seven hectares acquired by the company “Vides resursu centrs” in the Ropaži region. What will be the next steps of the enterprise in implementing the project for a station for the recovery of household waste?

“After receiving the conclusion of the State Tax Service, we will continue explanatory work,” replies Guntar Levics, a member of the board of the company, “this is an unprecedented project for Latvia. In fact, we are developing a new type of activity, so we are faced with many problems, including the lack of knowledge about the operation of regeneration stations “.

When asked when it is planned to resubmit this project for approval to the Ropazhsky region municipality, Levics replied that this is not planned yet because it is necessary to continue explanatory work with residents. As a representative of the enterprise previously explained to deputies, in the location chosen for construction it is most profitable to connect to the capital’s heat supply and electricity networks in order to supply heat and electricity obtained as a result of waste regeneration to consumers.
