PM Responds to President of Uruguay’s Alleged Rudeness at South American Summit in Brasilia

The prime minister spoke via social networks after an alleged rudeness by the president of UruguayLuis Lacalle Pou, after the official greeting of the leaders at the last summit held in Brasilia.

During the Summit of South American Presidents in Brasilia (Brazil) a video that would show the president of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, making a ‘contempt’ to the Peruvian Prime Minister, Alberto Otárola; as well as a moment in which the premier would appear isolated from the rest of the South American leaders in the official photo of the event.

Last Tuesday, in dialogue with RPP, Alberto Otárola pointed out that the Government responded “face to face” to the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, and demanded “non-interference” in Peruvian sovereignty during the summit held in Brazil. This after the Colombian president published on social networks that he expects a “democratic recovery process in Peru.”

“Specifically with President Petro, today he referred to Peru again in the terms that we already know, demanding the presence of Mr. Pedro Castillobut we directly, as they say face to face, have answered him on the basis of the universal principles of non-interference in matters of internal jurisdiction and sovereignty contained in the charters of the United Nations”, he told the program Real time of RPP News the head of the PCM.
