Pokémon players are unhappy with the treatment of Bug-type Pokémon, feeling that they are unfairly weak against certain other types, such as the Fairy-type.

The Pokémon Company has been gradually adding new types to the original Pokémon types, such as adding Dark, Steel, and Fairy types.

Despite this, some of the original types have remained fan favorites, such as the Fire type, which is home to some of the most popular Pokémon, such as Charizard.

Other types, however, have proven to be less popular and considered more niche, including Bug-type Pokémon. Players have had enough and have demanded that these insect-inspired Pokémon be strengthened.

Pokémon players are demanding that the Bug type be strengthened

A player, frustrated by the state of Bug-type Pokémon, complained on social media about the type’s “incompetence.”

They referenced the Ice type’s weakness to explain why they thought the type was so weak.

“I feel like the Bug type is just the Ice type if we replaced defensive incompetence with offensive incompetence on the type table,” they said. “Fire, Flying, and Steel types make sense to me. Perhaps the Poison type if it is meant to represent pollution, pesticides, or other toxic gases. But some of these other non-effective interactions seem overkill to me,” they continued.

Pokémon fans agree with this complaint, believing that a bias was given in favor of other types like the Fairy type: “Fairy-type resisting Bug-type confuses and irritates me. The Psychic/Fairy dual-type is already excellent without this resistance.”

However, for some players, not every Pokémon type needs to be powerful in battle, and they actually enjoy the challenge of using more niche types.

“I like that the Bug type is weaker. Each type does not need to be completely balanced. I like to use my underrated Bug-types and still succeed,” they said.
