Poland closed the last checkpoint for trucks on the Polish-Belarusian border

The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland, Mariusz Kaminsky, ordered to stop the movement of Belarusian trucks through the Kukuryki-Kozlovichi checkpoint. This is the last working checkpoint on the border of the two countries for trucks. The Ministry of Internal Affairs called this a response to the decision of Minsk to restrict entry into the territory of Belarus for Polish trucks.

“The suspension of traffic will be applied from February 21, 2023, from 19:00, until the Belarusian authorities lift restrictions for Polish carriers. At the same time, Belarusian carriers can enter Belarus through Lithuania and Latvia,” the statement says. message Polish Ministry of the Interior. According to State Border Committee Belarus, the capacity of the Kukuryki-Kozlovichi checkpoint is 1200 trucks per day in one direction.

On November 9, 2021, Poland unilaterally stopped work at the checkpoint “Kuznica Bialystotskaya” (from the Belarusian side – “Bruzgi”). The decision was linked to the flow of refugees from the Middle East and Africa. On February 10, Warsaw closed the Bobrovniki checkpoint (from the Belarusian side – Berestovitsa) for an indefinite period. Today, only one operating checkpoint remains on the Polish-Belarusian border – Terespol-Brest for passenger transport.

In response to the closure of Bobrovniki, Belarus has restricted entry into the country for Polish trucks. The movement of Polish trucks will be carried out only through the Belarusian-Polish section of the state border of Belarus.
