Poland was deprived of the right to host the World Youth Championship in wrestling (athletes under 20) due to failure to fulfill contractual obligations to provide visa support to participants. About it TASS Mikhail Mamiashvili, president of the Russian Wrestling Federation, said.
“Today, the United World Wrestling (UWW) decided to move the youth championship from Warsaw to the Jordanian capital Amman. The reason was the failure to fulfill contractual obligations to provide visa support,” Mamiashvili said.

The tournament was to be held from 14 to 20 August.
Later Mamiashvili told “Match TV”, that for the same reason Finland lost the right to host a tournament in the age category under 23, which was scheduled in Tampere from October 23 to 29. “It has nothing to do with politics. In the discussion of the issue, Russia or Belarus was never mentioned. The country that assumed the obligations did not fulfill them. According to the charter and the contract, a certain decision is made due to non-fulfillment of obligations. There is no subtext, especially political,” Mamiashvili said.
In early April, the UWW allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions in a neutral status.
The Russian national team missed the European Championship in Santiago de Compostela (June 26 – July 2) due to the fact that the athletes did not manage to get visas on time.
