Police announce 386 arrests between Tivaouane and Kaolack

The National Police, in a press release, took stock following its numerous interventions on the national territory. The police announced 386 arrests between Tivaouane and Kaolack for various reasons.

“The Gamou 2023 edition was commemorated by the Muslim community in several religious cities of the country such as Tivaouane, Kaolack, Saint Louis, Louga, Thiès, Touba, etc. The National Police deployed an important system to ensure the safety of pilgrims before, during and after the event (…) At the end of the mission, 386 people were arrested between Tivaouane and Kaolack for various reasons including: 231 for verification of ‘identify ; 46 for the need for investigation; 12 for public and obvious drunkenness; 5 for attempted theft; 31 for simple theft; 2 for meeting theft with use of means of transport; 13 for flagrant theft; 2 for driving without a driving license; 11 for possession and use of Indian hemp; 17 for possession and trafficking of Indian hemp; 4 for charlatanism, contempt of agent and rebellion; 6 for use of cellulosic product; 2 for contempt of an agent in the exercise of his functions; 2 for rebellion, violence and assault on an agent in the exercise of his duties; 1 for possession of a bladed weapon; 1 for possession of a firearm without authorization,” we read in the press release.
