Police arrest 159 beggars in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi police arrested 159 beggars from the emirate from November 6 to December 12 this year. The police warned that beggars are making up stories to mislead the public and attract sympathy, and not to fall for these scams.

Various campaigns are being conducted in the emirate to arrest beggars. The police asked the public to cooperate with the measures and to do their part to reduce begging on the streets.

One should refrain from personally distributing alms. Police also reiterated that official channels, institutions and charities should be utilized to ensure that donations reach the right people. The police have also requested the public to report cases related to begging through the command and control center on 999.
