A brigadier on duty at the Moulay Rachid Police District in Casablanca was forced, in the early hours of Friday morning, to use his service weapon as a preventive measure in order to neutralize an individual, with a criminal record, who was in an abnormal state and endangered the safety of people and the physical integrity of police officers using a bladed weapon, we learned from a police source.
A police patrol intervened to arrest the suspect, aged 31, in flagrante delicto of theft under threat of a knife in the Lahraouiyine district of Casablanca, adds the same source, stressing that the accused, refusing to comply, went to the roof of his house while putting up fierce resistance to police elements under threat of a sword and a blunt object, thus forcing the police brigadier to use his service weapon and fire a bullet which hit the upper limbs of the person concerned.
The accused was placed under medical supervision at the hospital where he was transported to receive the necessary care, pending his availability for the judicial investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office with a view to elucidate the ins and outs of this affair.
