Emergency personnel responded to a call on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, for a man who was in cardiac arrest and had a snake coiled around his throat.
When police officers arrived at the man’s house, located in Fogelsville County, they found him on the floor with the huge reptile around his neck. Apparently, it was a relative who notified the authorities.
One of the uniformed officers was able to shoot the snake in the head, since it was far enough from the man, so he might shoot without risk of injuring him.. The reptile immediately released its neck and slithered away, allowing officers to assist the individual.
The animal’s owner was rushed to a hospital. However, his current health status is unknown, according to Fogelsville Police Lt. Peter Nickischer.
For its part, the reptile later died from the head wound. Lt. Nickischer said he wasn’t sure what type of snake it was or how it attached itself to the man’s neck.
“It wasn’t like the officers had a chance to stop and ask questions. The call came in for cardiac arrest, so they had to move. There was really no time to find out the circumstances,” Nickische said.
