The Indonesian KPU will announce the vote count results for the 2024 presidential election today. To anticipate crowds, the police sterilized the road in front of the Indonesian KPU office.

“Until now, for the past two days, we have been sterilizing the road in front of the KPU because plenary activities are underway and at critical points,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro to journalists, Wednesday (20/ 3).

Meanwhile, other roads around the Indonesian KPU office, including Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto, are still normal. If necessary, traffic flow will be diverted later.

“However, the Cokroaminoto and other roads are still operating normally. When there is enough time, we will divert traffic flow so that demonstration activities can run safely and not endanger road users,” he said.

It was previously known that, ahead of the announcement of the 2024 General Election recapitulation results today, as many as 3,055 joint personnel were on standby in front of the KPU and DPR.

“In order to secure today’s action at the Indonesian KPU and Indonesian DPR, we involved 1,910 personnel at the Indonesian KPU and 1,145 personnel at the DPR/MPR,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro to journalists, Wednesday (20/3).

Susatyo said that traffic engineering will be situational depending on the situation in the field. If necessary, he continued, traffic flow will be diverted.

“So we urge people who will pass in front of the Indonesian KPU and the Indonesian DPR to look for alternative routes because there will be an action to express opinions in front of the Indonesian KPU and DPR/MPR RI buildings,” he said.

Susatyo asked the personnel on duty to prioritize persuasive actions while on duty. He also asked the masses who would attend to demonstrate according to existing regulations.

“Of course we must pay attention to the rights of other people, so that the rules in the law on expressing opinions in public must be obeyed,” he explained.
