Sales revenue rose overall by 8.7 percent to 2.74 billion euros. The operating result (EBIT) rose by 1.0 percent to 190.2 million euros.
High inflation combined with declining economic performance has had negative effects on the investment behavior of consumers and companies, the post said in the release. In particular, the weakening demand in retail has also hit postal customers in the mail order and advertising sectors.
In the largest company division, Parcel and Logistics, Swiss Post achieved sales growth of 16.6 percent to 1.41 billion euros. Development in the branch and bank division also went well, with sales increasing by 37.6 percent to 168.6 million euros. In the area of letters and advertising mail, however, there was a decline of 2.3 percent to 1.19 billion euros.
