Post-menopausal women need to follow a healthy diet, to overcome symptoms associated with the cessation of menstruation, such as mood swings, hot flashes and insomnia.

Foods to avoid after menopause

1- Processed foods

Some studies have shown that processed foods, such as chips and biscuits, have negative effects on menopausal women, due to their high salt and sugar content, which leads to fluid retention in the body and weight gain.

2- spicy foods

Post-menopausal women should completely stay away from spicy foods, such as chili, because they raise the body temperature when eaten, causing hot flashes to worsen.

3- fast food

It is necessary for women to stop eating fast food after menopause, because continuing to consume it may increase the risk of heart disease, because it contains saturated fats, which raise harmful cholesterol in the blood.

4- Caffeine

It’s best for postmenopausal women to replace coffee, tea, and Nescafe with ginger or peppermint, as caffeine worsens menopausal symptoms.

5- Fatty meat

It is advised to avoid fatty meat or reduce its intake after menopause, because excessive amounts of it lower the levels of serotonin in the body, which makes women more angry and irritable.
