PostNord driver stole packages worth over DKK 200,000

Back in the summer of 2022, a young man worked as a driver for a company with which PostNord had an agreement.

His tasks included, among other things, transporting the parcels from a parcel center in Aalborg and out to several post offices around North Jutland.

But there was a problem.

Some PostNord packages never ended up at the post offices located in Aalborg, Sæby and Frederikshavn. People turned up as usual at post offices at petrol stations, in Menu and at Føtex, but their parcels could not be collected.

This was because when the 24-year-old man saw a package he liked, he chose to take the package home. To itself.

It was especially electronic goods that the 24-year-old preferred. Including Apple products such as iPhones, iPads, AirPods, Apple Watches and much more.

He managed to steal packages from PostNord customers with an approximate value of over DKK 200,000 between May and August 2022.

The man was discovered when PostNord became aware that packages mysteriously disappeared on his route.

Recognized everything

On Wednesday, the 24-year-old appeared at the court in Aalborg.

Here he admitted all 31 counts of theft that he had committed in connection with his work as a driver at the PostNord-affiliated company.

Therefore, the summoned witnesses did not have to appear in court anyway.

In court, the man explained that he kept the things he could use, but sold others on because he lacked money.

The 24-year-old man was given a suspended prison sentence for six months with conditions of community service.

The court assumed, among other things, that his sentence was conditional because he had not previously been convicted.

He received the judgment and also had to pay compensation for the packages.
