PRESIDENT Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believes that there is no problem in providing suggestions for the composition of ministers for the Prabowo-Gibran cabinet. As long as it is requested directly by the elected president and vice president.
“It’s okay if you ask for advice, if you ask for advice,” said President Jokowi at the JI Expo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Friday, May 3 2024.
Jokowi also mentioned parties who were not asked for advice in preparing the cabinet. But take the initiative to provide input.
“If you don’t ask for advice, just go along and join in, that’s not right,” he explained.
Jokowi emphasized that forming a cabinet is the prerogative of elected president Prabowo Subianto.
Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka admitted that he would involve senior figures in compiling a cabinet of ministers who would serve in the Prabowo-Gibran government. These senior figures include heads of political parties.
“We all asked for input from seniors, figures, heads of political parties,” he said, in Solo, Friday, May 3 2024.
When asked whether Megawati Soekarnoputri was one of the figures who would be asked for input, Gibran answered yes. However, he admitted that he had not communicated with Megawati regarding this plan.
“She (Megawati) is no exception. It hasn’t been (communicated),” he explained. (Z-8)
