Presentation of the Economic Committee for Health Products – CEPS

The CEPS (Economic Committee for Health Products) contributes to the development of drug policy, it implements the guidelines it receives from the competent ministers, in particular, the committee applies these guidelines to the setting of drug prices. , expenditure monitoring and financial regulation of the market. To carry out this action, the committee may conclude agreements with companies or groups of companies relating to the price of medicines and their evolution, on discounts, on the undertakings of companies concerning the proper use of medicines and sales volumes, on the procedures for companies’ participation in the implementation of ministerial orientations.

Within the framework of the guidelines it receives from the ministers, the CEPS is responsible for proposing the reimbursement rates for the products and services of Article L. 165-1 of the CSS and, where applicable, their price. For the setting of these tariffs and these prices, it may enter into agreements with the manufacturers and/or distributors concerned, which may relate in particular to sales volumes. CEPS periodically monitors these expenditures.

Appointment of the CEPS vice-president in charge of products and services

Mr. Bernard CELLI, Chief Engineer of Mines, was appointed as Vice-Chairman of the Economic Committee for Health Products in charge of products and services by interministerial decree of November 28, 2022. His term of office took effect from November 1is January 2023 for a period of three years.

Mr. Sylvain HUMBERT, master of requests at the Council of State, was appointed as ethics officer of the Economic Committee for Health Products by interministerial decree of November 3, 2022.

Dematerialization of procedures for filing drug files – opening of the ACCESMED portal

A new procedure for submitting files for medicinal products has been put in place by CEPS.

Since June 15, 2022, files have to be submitted by pharmaceutical companies via a new portal

The creation of this portal materializes an objective of the Strategic Council of Health Industries (CSIS) to make it easier and faster to take charge of medicines.
