At the same time, he added that “we are studying the background to provide humanitarian aid in the terms of our scope and possibilities, and also study how we can collaborate more as a country to find peace. After the President’s statements, the chancellor remarked that “The legitimate defense of a country cannot extend to civilian targets.. “Chile has always had the same policy in this regard: A condemnation of any violation of international humanitarian law. And we call on the State of Israel to respect international humanitarian law. Previously, the Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which “repudiates and strongly condemns the brutal attack” against the hospital premises, warning that “it constitutes a serious violation of International Law and International Humanitarian Law, which must be respected without exception.”
“Its non-compliance constitutes a attack on the dignity of peoplealso putting world peace and security at risk,” the document adds, warning that such a fact “may constitute a war crime which must be investigated by the competent national and international authorities”.
In this context, the ministry maintains that Chile “extends its condolences to the families of the victims, as well as expresses its full solidarity and support to the people of Palestine in this difficult time.”
Likewise, “Chile makes a call to immediate cessation of hostilities and reaffirms its commitment to urgently resume the peace process between both parties, in accordance with International Law and the resolutions issued by the United Nations”.
