President of France Emmanuel Macron stated that social networks and video games are inciting the riots that have swept the country. The official opinion was expressed by the politician after mass clashes with the police took place in Paris for three nights in a row.

The protesters attacked law enforcement officers, set fire to and damaged city buildings in connection with the murder of a 17-year-old teenager. Recall that in the suburbs of Paris, a policeman shot dead a young man named Nahel, who was trying to avoid checking documents. Then one of the law enforcement officers shot at the car, accidentally killing a teenager.

Nahel’s mother said that her son was racially discriminated against because of his Algerian origin, so the people of Nanterra took to the streets, where there were several clashes with the police, during which 249 law enforcement officers were injured and 667 people were arrested. The officer who shot the teenager is under investigation on charges of premeditated murder.

The President of France calls on parents not to let their children out of their homes. In his opinion, there is a feeling that some of the rebels do not live in reality, but in video games that intoxicate them.

Recall that earlier Macron spoke positively about video games. In March 2022, he even opened his own Minecraft server.
