Tragedies involving people crossing railway tracks are unfortunately becoming more and more frequent. As we told you a few days ago, a lady was fatally struck by a train in Andennes while trying to pick up her dog, which had fallen onto the railway tracks. In Flanders, numerous fatal incidents have occurred with people trying to cross the railway tracks while… the level crossing was closed!
Infrabel spokesperson Thomas Baeken wanted to raise awareness about this by granting an interview to our Flemish colleagues from VRT. While he was telling the story of an octogenarian who was hit by a train and died following the collision, the unthinkable happened behind his back: in front of the cameras, a man on a bicycle crossed the level crossing which was then closed , without any embarrassment!
