“Prevention” reveals the ways of transmission of “monkeypox” to humans and the incubation period of the disease – Saudi News

The Public Health Authority “Weqaya” confirmed today (Thursday) that monkeypox is transmitted between humans and humans through respiratory droplets or physical contact with a person suffering from symptoms.

“Weqaya” revealed that the incubation period for “monkeypox” extends from 5-21 days, but mostly it is between 7 to 14 days.

Weqaya stated that the symptoms of monkeypox include headaches, muscle pain, back pain, fatigue, and swollen lymph glands.

The Public Health Authority indicated that the transmission of monkeypox disease may occur when a person is exposed to contact with an animal or human infected with the virus or fluids and secretions, as it is transmitted between humans and animals, and may occur when biting and scratching from the infected animal, as it is transmitted between humans and humans occurs through respiratory droplets. Or physical contact with a person with symptoms or touching contaminated surfaces and personal items.

And the Public Health Authority advised to stay away from crowded places as much as possible during travel and to adhere to wearing a mask and sterilizing hands on an ongoing basis. She also advised to see a doctor if a rash appears after a high temperature, especially in the event of returning from travel within the past 21 days for the start of symptoms, in addition to isolation until the time of consulting a doctor.

Today (Thursday), the Ministry of Health announced the monitoring of a case of monkeypox for a person returning from outside Saudi Arabia, in the city of Riyadh.

The Ministry of Health reassured everyone that the case is subject to medical care in accordance with the approved health procedures, in addition to that, all contacts were counted and none of them showed symptoms.
