Preventive prison for a young man accused of two crimes in a drug dispute in Rosario

A 22-year-old man was imputed this Friday Rosario for two crimes that occurred this year 60 days apart, in the alleged context of a territorial dispute between criminal drug gangs in different neighborhoods, judicial sources reported.

The accused was identified as Daniel “Gatito” Marín Miranda, arrested this Thursday in an apartment in the center of Rosario.

Prosecutor Adrián Spelta charged him with the crime of Cristian “Larva” Fernández, which occurred on April 14 in Gorriti at 6200, in the Empalme Graneros neighborhood.

According to the accusation, at 3:50 p.m. the accused arrived at the scene along with three other people who were traveling on a motorcycle and fired at the victim.

Fernández, whose two brothers who operated for the “Los Monos” drug gang were murdered in a triple crime that occurred in the town of Granadero Baigorria in April 2018, was parked in a Kia van when he was surprised by the attackers.

According to prosecutor Spelta, “the defendant and the other three companions positioned themselves a few meters from the vehicle and detonated a firearm against it, causing his death due to brain and skull destruction and massive hemorrhage from firearm injuries.”

Police investigators accused Marín Miranda of being “a man of Fran Riquelme,” another young man apparently linked to the gang led by local drug lord Esteban Alvarado.

Riquelme is in prison accused of being one of those who participated in the attack on a witness in the trial for which Alvarado was sentenced to life imprisonment, judicial sources recalled.

The other crime linked to Miranda occurred on February 12 of this year and had as a victim a young man identified as Brian Ortigoza.

In that case, the prosecutor Patricio Saldutti was the accuser and pointed out that “Gatito” together with a teenager would have been Ortigoza’s murderers.

The incident occurred around 1:30 when the victim went out to make a purchase in the Pasaje Vergara area at 2200 Rosario, and met the two attackers who were traveling on an enduro-type motorcycle, the prosecutor said.

The “minor got off the motorcycle and, using a 9-millimeter caliber pistol, fired multiple shots at him, thus causing his death, and then the accused together with the minor left on the motorcycle, fleeing,” Saldutti reported at the hearing.

The criminal judge Silvia Castelli considered the imputation hearing admitted and issued the effective preventive detention for the term of Marín Miranda law, reported the Public Ministry of the Accusation (MPA).
