Prince Harry now lives in the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle. The couple is said to have become increasingly dependent on each other because they lost many friends and found it difficult to be accepted by their neighbors in Montecito.
According to royal expert Phil Dampier, Harry seems to rely heavily on Meghan Markle in his social life.
Dampier stated, “I got the impression he didn’t have a circle of drinking buddies to go with in Montecito. The area was filled with old people, and I’m sure this would have a bad impact later on.”
He also added that Harry lost a lot after leaving England, including his family, his royal status, his military ties and many friends.
This condition was also emphasized by Grant Harrold, a former royal employee who worked for seven years when Charles was still Prince of Wales. He claims Harry has cut all ties with his friends who are also friends of his older brother, Prince William.
“I know some of Harry’s friends, who now don’t hear from Harry at all,” Harrold said.
Not to mention, apart from Harry and Meghan Markle not having many friends, they also face difficulties being accepted by their neighbors in Montecito. One of their neighbors, Frank McGinity, 88 years old and a US Navy veteran, complained of less than friendly treatment from the couple.
McGinity claims he tried to welcome Harry and Meghan Markle when they first moved to the area in 2020. He even went to their gate with a film and a CD as a welcome gift, but their gatekeeper turned him away and said the couple wasn’t interested.
Harry and Meghan Markle’s story since leaving England has been full of changes and challenges. They appear to be adapting to a new life in the United States, but are also having to cope with the loss of friends and perhaps feeling less accepted by society around them.
