Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a subtle appearance at the 2022 Trooping the Colour parade Thursday as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s four-day Platinum Jubilee celebration in London.
The “Suits” alum, 40, stunned in an off-the-shoulder navy dress paired with a massive sun hat while joined by the Duke of Sussex, 37, in the Major General’s Office at Buckingham Palace in photos obtained by the Daily Mail.
The pair seemed to arrive in a low-key manner but were later spotted chatting with other members of the royal family, including the Queen’s cousin Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent.
Markle was also seen goofing around with some of the younger members of the family. She was photographed giggling with the Queen’s great-granddaughters Savannah Phillips, 11, Isla Phillips, 10, Mia Tindall, 8 and Lena Tindall, 3.
Meanwhile, the Queen, 96, and senior royals including Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton waved to onlookers from the balcony of the palace.
Markle and Harry were not invited to the photo op, as they are no longer working royals.
“After careful consideration, the Queen has decided this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday, 2 June, will be limited to Her Majesty, and those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen,” Buckingham Palace previously said in a statement.
Trooping the Colour is the official celebration of the Queen’s birthday that involves a parade with more than 1,000 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians each year.
Created under the reign of King Charles II in 1748, the British sovereign’s birthday has been honored annually in June for more than 260 years.
And it isn’t the only birthday celebration for the Queen, who also recognizes the day she was actually born, April 21.
Page Six reported in May that Harry, Markle and their kids, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 11 months, were expected to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrationmarking just the second time the pair have returned to see the Duke of Sussex’s grandmother since resigning from their royal duties and moving to California in early 2020.
The duo are also expected to celebrate their daughter Lilibet’s 1st birthday Saturday with the Queen. The visit will mark the first time the sovereign has been able to meet her great-granddaughter, who is named after her.
The Sussexes last visited the Queen in April, making a secret stop in the UK while en route to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games, which was their first time returning to Harry’s homeland together since Megxit.
While in town at the time, they also reunited with Harry’s dad, Charles, 73, and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, though they did not cross paths with William, 39, or Middleton, 40, amid Harry’s tense relationship with the Duke of Cambridge.
Harry, who has spoken out against the UK government for not supplying enough security for his family, also returned home sans Markle to attend a memorial for his late mother, Princess Diana, in July 2021 and his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral that April.
