Britain’s Prince William said on Saturday he would honor the memory of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, by working to support his father, King Charles III.
“My grandmother famously said that sadness is the price we pay for love… All the sadness we will feel in the coming weeks will be a testament to the love we have for our wonderful queen,” he added in a statement.
“I will honor her memory by supporting my father, the King, in every way possible,” he explained.
William, 40, who is now heir to the British throne, said the Queen “was by my side in the happiest moments of my life, and she was by my side during the saddest days of my life”.
The Prince of Wales added: “I knew this day would come, but it will be a while before I feel the truth of life without my grandmother.”
