Alcalá de Henares, Aug 25 (EFE).- The Príncipe de Asturias Hospital (HUPA), located in Alcalá de Henares, is reforming and updating the radiodiagnosis and nuclear medicine service and other key areas in the care work of the center.
This project, framed within the High Technology Equipment Investment Plan (INVEAT), involves the acquisition of three devices to perform Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT), a PET-gamma camera, three magnetic resonance equipment and a PET-CT in the nuclear medicine service.
The contract has been awarded for an amount of 3.2 million of the total of 8.5 million euros planned for the Radiology works of the hospital, as well as the Francisco Díaz Integral Center for Diagnosis and Treatment, the center specified in a note sent to the media.
“This type of state-of-the-art equipment and maximum benefits, which are used for the treatment and diagnosis of cancer and other pathologies, provide earlier and more precise diagnoses, with techniques that provide greater comfort to patients,” they explained from the hospital.
The work being carried out in the radiology area includes a change in the spaces, especially in Nuclear Medicine, which, after the relocation of the old workshops, will have an area of approximately 800 square meters next to the radiodiagnosis service.
Together with the two planned equipment (a gamma camera with better performance and a new PET-CT), nuclear medicine will have a new control room, another for techniques, several connection corridors, different boxes, a meeting room, as well as a conference room. wait.
In addition, the radiodiagnosis service will have a new CT scan and a new MRI.
The set of actions is carried out in three phases in order to make care work compatible with the improvement of all areas of the service.
On the other hand, among the improvements that are being made in the center there is also the adaptation of the ICU A.
Regarding the hospitalization areas, the center continues to bet on improving the ceilings in the second A and the fifth C and a new call system will be installed in connection with the control of the unit.
Within the kitchen service, improvement works are being carried out for the extraction of vapors in the area of the car wash.
In addition, adaptations have been made in the assisted reproduction unit (air conditioning and adaptation of two consultations and a secretariat) or in the day hospital.
Finally, in lingerie, during these months the entire room has been redesigned to gain a service connection corridor, with shelves and other equipment such as equipped fire hydrants, as well as new paint and lighting. EFE.
