Private firms must provide skilled work to UAE nationals: Ministry of Manpower and Indigenization

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Manpower Indigenization has directed private sector organizations to provide skilled jobs to UAE nationals. The ministry also directed that skilled candidates should not be appointed to unskilled posts.

2% of private companies with more than 50 employees as specified in the Naturalization Act. The deadline given to companies to implement indigenization will expire after two weeks.

The ministry has also directed the companies to increase the Swadeshi ratio by 2% each in the coming years and to 10% by 2026. A company that violates the law will be fined from Dh6,000 per month to Dh72,000 per year per resident. Companies that hire more than the prescribed limit will get benefits including work permit fee exemption depending on the scale.
