Unstable Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Hits UAE, Abu Dhabi and Dubai

Abu Dhabi: It started raining in most parts of the UAE this afternoon. The weekend started with cool and clear weather. Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah experienced moderate rainfall. All other emirates were affected by rain.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued orange and yellow alerts. The NCM has warned people that the weather will be unstable till 8.30 pm today.

With caution in place in most parts of the country, the public has been urged to take extra precautions when going out. Weather watchers Storm Center has released several videos showing the weather in different parts of the country. Footage shows hail falling in the desert of Sharjah. Hailstones also fell at some places on Sharjah Road.

Heavy rains affect visibility on Dubai roads. A similar situation occurred in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. A video of residents enjoying the rain in Damak Hills 2 near Dubai’s Al Qudra desert also went viral on social media.

Abu Dhabi Police issued a warning on Saturday as the unstable weather continued. Motorists are urged to be safe and avoid streams, water bodies and low-lying areas. Officials also warned that those who enter flooded valleys face a fine of Dh2,000, 23 black points and confiscation of their vehicle for 60 days.
