Emergency Response Committee Chairman Han Dong-hoon told reporters after the Gyeonggi Provincial Party’s New Year’s greeting that day, “The People Power Party has appointed Professor Jeong Young-hwan of Korea University Law School as the chairman of the nomination management committee to prepare for the general election on April 10.”

Chairman Han said, “Professor Jeong is famous for fair legal research, and we judged him to be the right person to take charge of the People Power Party’s persuasive and fair nomination with objective judgment that is not biased to the left or right.”

Professor Jeong is from Gangneung, Gangwon-do and is a former judge who completed the 15th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute. He began as a judge at the Ulsan Branch of the Busan District Court, and finally took off his judicial uniform as a judge at the Seoul High Court and a trial researcher at the Supreme Court. He has been practicing as a lawyer since March 2000, and has been working as a professor at Korea University Law School since 2009 to the present. He also served as the 15th president of the Korean Law Professors Association.
